We would like to invite you to a ‘Theology Day’ that will take place the day before the Eurasia Regional Conference begins: you would arrive on the 3rd November, and we will spend the 4th in seminar sessions, with in-depth conversations that will build foundations for themes that the conference itself will develop further.
Who is this designed for? The thinking Christian: certainly, those who may have a teaching role or who are students in one of our regional Colleges, and those who serve in ministry roles across the region, but also lay people who want to dig deeper into the issues facing Christians today.
The day will cover five sessions, based around the ‘gaps’ where church is struggling: we’ll be circulating five short position papers ahead of the conference, and then panel discussions and small groups will explore the foundations for these:
• People on the Move: Caring for Immigrants and Refugees. A biblical engagement with a current crisis.
• Secularism: How does our Wesleyan theology speak into a secular society?
• Caring for Creation and the Vulnerable: What does the Church have to say about ecology and sustainability?
• Church and Discipleship in a Digital Age: what approaches to spiritual formation draw a new generation to the deep places of faith?
• Developing Leaders of Christian Character: Integrity and Anti-corruption. What is Christian about ‘Christian Leadership’? Is there a distinctly Wesleyan contribution here?
The only cost for the event is the cost of an additional day’s stay at the conference centre – so, when you go to register for the conference, indicate that you also want to be part of the Theology Day: we will make sure you get sent the short papers in advance, and give you details about the location for the sessions on the 4th. We do have some scholarship funds available, so if finance is a concern, please contact the Regional Education Coordinators (Peter Rae and Antonie Holleman) at rec@eurasiaregion.org.
