REPORTS TO: Eurasia Region NYI Coordinator
Estimated Time Commitment: 10.5 hours per week
The NYI (Nazarene Youth International) serves the church by engaging youth across the Eurasia region through various initiatives. We are seeking a Social Media Content Manager to join our regional NYI team to develop and implement a compelling social media strategy.
Objectives
Serving under the Eurasia Region NYI Coordinator and as part of the regional NYI team, the NYI Social Media Content Manager helps the team to:
- Develop a team of Social Media Ambassadors across the Region to create and share content, and work with that team to interconnect NYI across diverse cultures and contexts within the region.
- Communicate stories, news, and other information with effective visual elements through social media.
- Cultivate online engagement among Eurasia NYI, shaping an online community.
- Share pertinent information and educational content, engage with current trends and issues important to young people, and support young people to share about their passions.
- Use social media to share leadership training stories and resources.
Qualities of the Eurasia NYI Social Media Content Manager

- Communication: Excellence verbal and written communication. Listens well and follows direction. Shows initiative in building relationships and cultivating community.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of ongoing developments in social media, apps, mobile devices, common websites, and other platforms for sharing information. Able to work with all relevant apps and devices.
- Creativity: Creative and innovative thinker, willing to take risks and try new things, interested in photography, design, writing, and audio recording. Should be willing to be both on camera and behind the camera.
- Reliability: Consistently completes tasks on time, and intentionally seeks to grow and learn/gain feedback. Persistent in accomplishing goals and working intentionally with values and goals.
- Teamwork: Team player. Seeks to learn & understand different cultures and looks for ways to value diversity in their work. Shows initiative in supporting the team and is a reliable and accessible mentor to young people.
- Research Skills: Adept at thorough research. Attention to detail, has a passion for keeping up with current events/trends and understanding audience.
- Proactivity: Proactive, self-starting learner, learns from feedback.
- Residency: Must live within the Eurasia Region.
Tasks
The tasks of the Social Media Manager may include any or all the following:
- Develop a social media strategy in conjunction with the Regional NYI Coordinator/Nexus Coordinator, then lead in executing it daily and/or weekly.
- Create high-quality designs that tell meaningful stories for social media posts.
- Use social media to advertise and promote regional and global NYI initiatives, stories, and news links.
- Supporting the work of Media on the Eurasia region – including helping with podcast development, developing young communication ambassadors, and discipling young people to use media in a christ-centred way.
- Manage and facilitate social media communities by responding to social media posts and developing discussions. Seek to intentionally create a new community with young people online.
- Follow other Eurasian Nazarenes and global departments on social media to gather appropriate ideas for resharing through Eurasia NYI social media.
- Identify trends to help with planning social media campaigns.
- Stay up to date with GDPR regulations and copyright law.
- Other creative work to support NYI as requested.
Skills
- Design Software: Adobe Illustrator/InDesign/Photoshop, and Canva (a basic understanding of one or more is desirable).
- Photography: Photography/Video skills and photo editing (a basic understanding of one or more is desirable).
- Social Media Knowledge: Understanding of different social media platforms and tools (including Instagram, Facebook, and tik tok)
- Storytelling: Short-form storytelling for social media.
- Communication Tools: Email, Microsoft Word, Zoom.
- Language: Fluency in English.
