Busingen International Church reaching out a little closer to home

Büsingen International Church of the Nazarene, located in Büsingen, Germany, has a long tradition of helping people in need across the Eurasia Region. This Christmas season, the church is reaching out a little closer to home. 

Earlier in the month the church collected items for needy families in Romania. During one of their monthly prayer meetings, while talking about the parcels to Romania, they began to talk about needs locally and their responsibility to neighbors in their own village. 

New vision, unity leads to church plants in Lebanon

Equipped with a new vision and sense of unity, the three Nazarene churches in Beirut, Lebanon, are working together in a shared mission that has resulted in the planting of four new churches in the past year. The three churches in Lebanon, which the denomination first officially entered in 1950, have persevered through decades of civil war and political instability. In addition, they suffered from disunity in recent years.

Kyiv youth join Vinnitsa church in community outreach

In early November, 12 young people from Kyiv, Ukraine, boarded a train for Vinnitsa, a smaller city four hours away. Besides the fact that the trip was a wonderful team building and networking opportunity for the youth, the main purpose was to share in the ministry of their sister congregation in Vinnitsa as they minister to low-income families in their region.

Regional Educational Meetings Steer Progress

From 12-16 November, the Regional Course of Study Advisory Committee (RCOSAC) and the Eurasia Education Consortium (EEC) gathered in Büsingen, Germany, for its annual meeting to discuss issues, leadership matters and challenges facing education on the region as well as to conduct business.

Record typhoon hits Philippines

Super Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest in world history, reached the Philippines in the early morning hours of Friday, November 8. The storm made landfall six times, flattening entire villages with winds up to 295 kph (183 mph). As of Tuesday, the death toll reached 1,774 with more than 800,000 residents displaced. 

Nazarene Theological College Graduation 2013

With representation from around the world, 37 students graduated from Nazarene Theological College (NTC) in Manchester, UK, this October with a range of degrees and specialisms. Particularly noteworthy were the postgraduate degrees received by graduates from NTC’s India learning centre partnerships.

350 youth attend Kosova basketball camp

First Sweet Surrender café opens in Denmark

The Greve Church of the Nazarene, Denmark, on 1 May opened its new café ministry in the neighborhood of Vesterbro, close to the city center of Copenhagen. The café is named Sweet Surrender, after its two sister Nazarene cafés in Poland.

Teenager walks after District Family Camp

Marcella is 18 years old. She lives on the outskirts of Kamez, on the road where the Flowers of Life Kindergarten and the Kamez Church of the Nazarene are located in Albania. She frequently participates in the services of the church as she recently accepted Jesus in her life, and part of her family was planning on coming to the District Family Camp August 5 to 10.

Romanian church installs new aquaponics system

The Church of the Nazarene in Tigmandru, Romania, this month is installing a new aquaponics fish and fruit and vegetable growing system beside the church building. Kyle Petrie, who also helped develop the aquaponics system on the rooftop of a Nazarene church in Jerusalem, Israel, helped the Tigmandru church plan and install the system.

Crocker elected GS after record number of ballots

Gustavo A. Crocker, Eurasia regional director, was elected the 41st general superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene Wednesday night. He was elected on the 53rd ballot at the 28th General Assembly in Indianapolis, Indiana.
