For the last several months the Gorre Church of the Nazarene, in Gorre, Albania, has had some exciting challenges that have been stretching their vision and reliance on God as well as seeking His wisdom.
Being a community based on agriculture, it is difficult to set aside a meeting time for all to gather together to worship God as a family.
“They have different meeting times almost every day of the week,” according to District Superintendant Steve Beiler. “They have a day for teen boys, another for teen girls, a day for prayer meeting and another day for Bible study.”
Pastor Ermal is excited about an all-church summer camp where 30-40 people have already committed to attend. Ermal’s vision is for this camp to be “a time to strengthen themselves and unite as a church family. [A time] to serve one another and to fellowship as a church to draw near to God.” It is the hope that meeting together as a united group will encourage the congregation to see the need of meeting together on a regular basis as a church family and a weekly church service will be birthed.
The Gorre church is also the hub of the district and serves as the central location of ministry for the district. The District Center, which is located on the second floor of the church building, is used for training, conferences, seminars and other training opportunities. The center is open for other churches and groups as well and is an arm of ministry within the community. Recently, the District Center has opened a library. This newly added resource would help aid in the upcoming District theological courses that are going to be taught April 18 to 20, as well as April 25 – 27, and for future classes as well.
A lot has been happening in the life of the Gorre church as they have been walking through a sermon series focusing on the Blood of Christ, which led up to their Easter Celebration. The realization of what God wants to do, and can do, comes with some challenges but also comes with the promise of His faithfulness.
As they continue to plan and pray for God’s leading in their church, as well as their summer camp, pray with Ermal that the camp will strengthen their unity, love and relationship with God.
