New District Superintendent Appointed in Portugal

Rev. Cristian Yabuki was installed as the new District Superintendent for the Portugal District at the ordination service on November 8th, 2024 by General Superintendent Dr. Carla Sunberg. Pastor Cristian has been serving in Portugal since December 2017 as Pastor at the Church of the Nazarene – Alcabideche in Cascais.

“Assuming this new role as District Superintendent comes with great responsibility,” he shares. “I trust God will lead every step of the way for this District to live a great revival.”

Pastor Cris came from a Christian family and learned to love God from an early age, but it was in his teens that he really surrendered to Jesus.

He started serving at the Church of the Nazarene in the city of Rio Claro, São Paulo, Brazil, in April 1995 and there he began his first steps, serving with the local NYI and as a worship minister.

“I received my pastoral call in 1999 and began my studies at the Nazarene Seminary of Brazil the same year,” he shares.

He began his pastoral ministry in 2003, serving as an assistant pastor at the Central Church of the Nazarene in Rio Claro, São Paulo, Brazil. In 2006, he and his wife Camila had their first experience outside Brazil, where they spent a year and a half in Japan. At the end of 2007, they returned to Brazil, where he served as an assistant pastor at the Central Church of the Nazarene in Piracicaba, São Paulo, and then, still in Piracicaba, he served as pastor for 9 years.

It was on March 17, 2015, that Pastor Cristian was ordained. And two years later, in 2017, he spent a few months with his family in the city of Bergamo, Italy, where he and his family had their first missionary experience outside Brazil.

After arriving in Portugal, it was in November 2018 that Pastor Cristian became district NYI president and served tirelessly with the youth for 6 years, until this year, where he has left the role to become District Superintendent.

Pastor Cristian is married to Camila and has two daughters, Ana Lívia and Fernanda.
